OUR LAPIDARY WORKSHOP
We have one of the larger club Lapidary workshops available to our members as well as first time non-members interested in joining our club. It is equipped with all the equipment required to slab rocks and minerals, to cut out your desired shapes and to polish your creations to a fantastic cabochon.
We also have an extensive library available to members, everything from how to wire wrap, lost wax casting, enameling to locations to find material as well as interesting books on the history or lapidary to dinosaurs. All available for members to use at the workshop or to sign out for use at home.
Our knowledgeable supervisors can get you started and guide you throughout the process so you can turn your found minerals or purchased minerals into beautiful Cabochons'. There are also several specialty workshops held throughout the year in things like silver work, bronze work, jewellery making etc.
If you have ever been interested in turning your mineral finds into something you will be proud to have and own, please come out to our workshop, first visit is always free and includes a material to get started on.
Fee for workshop is $12.00 per session, please respect other people who wish to use the machines and do not tie them up if someone is waiting. We have a sign in and sign out sheet at the door please remember to do so and pay the instructor when first arriving, we are investigating a debit option and hope to have it up and running very soon. Existing punch cards will of course continue to be honored but no new cards will be issued going forward.
Our workshop is also operating under Covid-19 protocols now so please take the time to read our Covid-19 policy.
Also, we do welcome the younger members as long as they are strictly supervised by a guardian, please see our junior member acknowledgement and if you wish your child to participate in using the workshop please sign and hand in to the instructor when you first arrive. Guardian’s may not be required to supervise from ages 16 to 19 depending on the instructors and the guardian’s satisfaction they understand the safety issues of running the machines. Ages 8 to 16 will require a guardian’s supervision while always operating or being around the machines.
